Fleurdilly
Fleurdilly is located in a popular tourist destination - the vibrant, historic town of Pézenas in the department of Hérault. Perfectly nestled between the Cevennes Mountains to the North and the Mediterranean Sea to the South, Pézenas not only has excellent transport links by road, but is also serviced by several local international airports; Beziers, Montpellier, Carcassonne, Marseille and Toulouse with the main rail stations of Narbonne and Montpellier less than an hour away.
In the well-preserved heart of old Pézenas you will find many fine examples of medieval and Renaissance architecture. These atmospheric, winding streets and alley ways now harbour over 30 artisan workshops (each Wednesday and Friday are Les Nocturnes - late night shopping until 11pm). It has national status as a “Ville de Métiers d’Art” along with a large choice of pretty boutiques, antiques shops, restaurants and cafés. The famous, bustling Saturday market with its abundance of fresh, cooked and preserved produce, draws people from all around, year round.
Pézenas proudly celebrates its' famous adopted son, the 17th Century playwright Molière, who spent several summers here along with the Prince de Conti and his court. This Cité de Molière was one of France’s first ‘secteurs sauvegardés’ and it promotes a continuous cultural calendar of wine, music and arts festivals. As home to many antiques shops, it also hosts a hugely popular bi-annual antiques street fair Le Grand Déballage in April and October which stretches through the town centre for a kilometre or more.
Located in the wine region of Languedoc-Rousillion, where there are many domaines producing great quality wines Pézenas itself has it's own AOP status with reputable vineyards in nearby Picpoul de Pinet, Fontes, Faugères and St Chinian. Pézenas is also only an hours drive to the historic cities of Montpellier, Narbonne and Nimes with Beziers and Sète but a skip away. A 20 minute drive will take you to the expanse of Mediterranean beaches or water sports recreation on Lac de Salagou and Etang de Thau or the rivers and gorges of the Cevennes to the North.
